“Cowboy Ethics” new Wyoming Law

According to this article from the Denver Post, Governor Dave Freudenthal signed legislation recently resulting in a new official state code.

Though you can’t be criminally punished for disobeying these “cowboy ethics”, it doesn’t hurt to be reminded of a few of them:

Wyoming Fastest Growing State

Wyoming and Texas are at the top of this year’s Census Bureau estimate. Wyoming ranked at the top for the fastest growth while Texas added the largest number of people than any other state. All this while states that normally are at the top of the list like Nevada and and Florida are seeing their growth slow down considerably.

Wyoming Ranks 3rd in Happiest States

A University of Cambridge (England) study collected and analyzed data from more than 350,000 individuals in 2008 as part of the Gallup Organization’s Well-Being Index. Overall evaluation of their lives, emotional health, physical health, healthy behaviors, and job satisfaction were all included in the index.

This recent Business Week article looks ahead to 2012 when they are predicting that the housing market will have recovered to “normal” levels. Predictions are that Wyoming – one of a few states in the US that has escaped the worst of the recession – will see home values increase 9.2% from those of 2008. Cheyenne had the highest expected home value increase at 13.1%.

Record Breaking Cheyenne Frontier Days

The 113th Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days was a huge success this year according to this article.

The rodeo, night shows, and Behind the Chutes Tours were all up from last year. George Strait’s concert was enjoyed by over 22,000 people making it the largest outdoor concert ever to take place in Wyoming.

A successful event like this is great news for the local economy as businesses around town benefit from the extra visitors.
